The role of parent councils in social accountability
This paper aims to examine the role of parent councils in social accountability and extent to enable them to perform it. Also, quality of the impact they achieve in accordance to the available policies, foremost of which is the list of fathers and mothers' councils. To achieve this goal, (30) interviews were conducted in five governorates with a number of Members of parents' councils and school principals about the roles of these councils in social accountability, in addition to (10) interviews with officials and experts, to come up with a realistic diagnosis of the current status of the accountability process and to present proposals for solutions needed to improve the role of parent councils in enhancing the educational process through social accountability.
